Science Education for the Next Generation

17 Mar

Jeanne Kaidy earned her master’s degree in education from Nazareth College in 1998. In 2010, she was one of just 103 recipients nationwide of the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching. Kaidy spent a week in Washington D.C., meeting President Obama and attending gatherings with the other recipients of this award.

For the past 12 years, Kaidy has kept her science class at McQuaid Jesuit High School upbeat and updated with case studies and outdoor field trips to collect data for their experiments. We tagged along on her class’ recent trip to Mendon Ponds Park where we got a glimpse of how Kaidy engages her students and gets them excited about science.
