Wellness and Rehabilitation Institute: Construction Update, Week of August 18, 2014

WRI construction

This week at the construction site:

  • Brick and window installation on the south elevation is nearly complete.
  • Storm water systems will be constructed over the next few weeks on the east and south sides of the building.
  • Interior partitions in the east half of the addition are almost complete.
  • Hanging of drywall on the partitions in the west half of the addition is underway.
  • Mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems are in progress throughout the addition.

  • Brick installation continues along the east and west sides of the building.
  • Interior partitions are almost completely framed in the new addition.
  • Drywall is being hung in the east half of the addition.
  • Electrical and mechanical systems are being roughed in.
  • Windows will be delivered soon.

  • Structural steel frame is complete.
  • Masonry wall construction is ongoing.
  • Concrete floor slabs will be poured on the ground floor.

  • Air infiltration barrier is being applied.
  • Exterior brick is being installed at the east end.
  • Roofing of the new addition continues.
  • More concrete floor will be placed.
  • Interior partitions are being framed.
  • Sheet metal duct work is being hung.

Construction of the new Nazareth College Wellness and Rehabilitation Institute is moving along.  This week at the construction site:

  • Interior demolition of the west end of Carroll Hall.
  • Pouring of concrete slab at the east side of the addition.
  • Framing of the exterior walls begins.
  • Roofing work begins at the east end of the building.
  • Structural steel along the west end.

Wellness and Rehabilitation Institute Construction Update: Week of May 19, 2014

At the construction site of the new Nazareth College Wellness and Rehabilitation Institute this week:

  • Steel erection continues along the addition.
  • The foundation for the ramp and stairs at the west entrance will be completed.
  • The subgrade will be prepared for the new concrete slab at the east end of the addition.
  • Interior demolition in the west end of the building continues.

  • Faculty and staff move out of the west side of Carroll and into temporary office space.

Wellness and Rehabilitation Institute Construction Update: Week of May 5, 2014

ImageNew York State Lt. Gov. Robert Duffy joined Nazareth College President Daan Braveman and members of board of trustees College for the ceremonious groundbreaking of the Wellness and Rehabilitation Institute (WRI) on April 28. The new $16.5 million expansion has received new gift commitments of more than $3.4 million dollars, bringing total funds committed to the project to $15.5 million.

On the construction site this week:

  • Steel arrives on site and erection starts at the east end of the building.
  • Foundations will continue at the west side of the addition.
  • Backfill for the building pad is ongoing.
  • Temporary clinic space for Physical Therapy and Creative Arts Therapy is being created.
  • PT will move to Elizabeth George Hall, where minor construction is needed in the lobby.
  • Creative Arts Therapy will move their clinics to the Clock Tower Commons classroom.
  • Faculty and staff in the west side of Carroll Hall will be packing their offices.

Wellness and Rehabilitation Institute Construction Update: Week of April 28, 2014

Join us Monday, April 28 for the ceremonial groundbreaking of the Nazareth College Wellness and Rehabilitation Institute!

  • Ceremonial groundbreaking: 11 – 11:45 a.m.
  • Special guest speaker: Lt. Gov. Robert Duffy
  • Reception: 11:45 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.
  • Celebration reception with refreshments provided. Music provided by members of the Loose Change Jazz Ensemble.

 

This week at the construction site:

  • The building pad will be graded to the final floor elevation and back-filled with stone.
  • Brick demolition will continue at the new lobby location.
  • Foundations will continue around the west end of the building.
  • Handicapped parking spaces will be relocated.
  • Some occupants of the west side of the building will begin to move out of the building.
